This paper is the second in a series which contrasts the characteristics of the ten major ethnic groups distinguished by the [1991 U.K.] Census....[In particular, it] extends the analysis of census data by focussing upon contrasts in age and gender composition between each ethnic group....The 1980s saw continued growth in the ethnic minority population of Great Britain, with the most rapidly growing ethnic groups having very youthful population structures.
