Narrative constructions of historical realities in testimony with Bosnian survivors of "ethnic cleansing."

摘要:

Describes mental health professionals' constructions of historical realities, constructions of historical realities by Bosnian Muslim survivors of "ethnic cleansing," and testimony encounters where mental health professionals and survivors became involved in negotiating with one another and reconstructing their views of historical realities. Though the testimony presented was undertaken as part of a psychotherapeutic intervention for the survivors of ethnic cleansing, this text does not try to demonstrate its benefits or limitations as a treatment modality. The focus is on to the testimony as a setting where survivors and clinicians participate in an interactive experience of constructing narratives of historical realities.
