Ethnic identity of Latino children.

摘要:

the authors' long-term research on ethnic identity, particularly that of Mexican-American children / the data presented in this chapter support the development of an ethnic identity socialization model in preschool to school-age children which is consistent with cognitive development theory / analyze the role of intragroup cultural variability on the transmission of ethnic identity from parents to children / introduce data indicating a relationship between ethnic identity and social behavior, such as cooperative vs competitive behavioral preferences / offer a substantial discussion of the theoretical and methodological implications of their findings for future research, and delineate ways in which their research can be utilized to facilitate cognitive and social development in Latino children / suggest that [the authors'] findings may be applicable to children from other Latino groups as well
