A Study of Tourists' Place Attachment and Vivid Memory on Revisit Intention

摘要:

Tourists that revisit are a stable source of revenue for the travel industry, and they play an important role of providing travel destination related information to potential tourists. The positive vivid memory is affected by the attachment goals. This study aimed to explore the correlations among Mainland Chinese tourists' place attachment, vivid memory and revisit intention. With Taiwan as the tourist destination, 544 Mainland Chinese tourists that traveled in Taiwan were included in the survey. The results show that the Mainland Chinese tourists' vivid memory had a mediating effect on place attachment and revisit intention. The more clearly tourists remember the details of past travel, the more they have feelings that transcend reality. In other words, this study identifies another mediating variable of vivid memory and fills the gap in revisit intention literature. Thus, the finding extends previous studies on revisit intention through the impact of place attachment. Based on the study results, it was suggested that the operators concerned pay special attention to this aspect.
