Amanda Wall, a Latin and composition teacher and doctoral student, along with J. Spencer Edmunds, a middle school director and teacher of creative writing, explore the efforts of one school to support literacy and service-learning. In the final article, Laura Chiaravalloti, a sixth-grade English language arts and social studies teacher, as well as a doctoral candidate, addresses the developmental needs of young adolescents while attending to curricular standards in Making the Switch.
